Designed for a natural fit
Nipple shields come in two sizes. Small shields fit nipples from 12 mm in diameter, while medium shields fit up to 21 mm in diameter. To find your size, sit comfortably and put one of the shields on your nipple. Turn the shield clockwise and guide your nipple into the tunnel. Then stretch the base of the shield around your areola. If there is a 2 mm gap between your nipple and the silicone, the shield fits properly. Tip: The size refers to the nipple, not the areola. Not sure which size to choose? Easy to clean with a hygienic case
You should clean your nipple shields before each use. It takes less than 10 minutes. Place the shields in boiling water for five minutes or use a special case. Place the well-rinsed shields in the case and add 25 ml of water. Then place the case in the microwave at 750-1000 W for 3 minutes. Wait for five minutes for them to cool down. Pour out the water. The shields are ready to use. This convenient case is great for cleaning your shields when you are travelling. Of course, it also serves as a storage case.
Combining breastfeeding and bottle feeding
The Philips Avent Nipple Shield is made of an ultra-thin, soft silicone material that is closer to the material used in baby feeding products. It helps to ease the transition from breastfeeding to bottle feeding when combining both methods.
